INDIAN HEAD, WE THANK YOU! Our March 12 New Flooring Fundraiser held at China Garden Restaurant was a resounding success. To each and every person who purchased tickets, we thank you for your kind support. To Ely Lau and staff at China Garden, thank you for a fabulous job and working with us on this event. For their generous cash donation, we thank: Highway #1 Towing, the awesome Merk Family also bought 8 tickets to come dine with us! To our one and only, Dr. Brian Baker, what a gem you are, thank you! To the Indian Head District Lions Club, wow!, please shake the hand or hug a Lion's member for us! To several folks who wished to be “anonymous”, we thank you all immensely! Huge thanks to everyone who purchased a card from the deck (or several!) for our 50/50 draws. The lucky winners were: Hilda Biden, Gwen Johner, Pinkie Friesen (with the Ace of Spades no less!!) and Judy Priddell. Winner of the 1 Year Membership Certificate to our Heritage Club was Ben Orban. Ben's wife, Linda, says, “thanks, sweetie!” Linda is a member of our club and enjoys our exercise programs and card games. The winner of $25 scratch and win lottery tickets was John Mish. I hear tell, that John won enough to take his lovely wife, Lillian, out to lunch, but only if they share their sandwich & cuppa' tea! The Indian Head Heritage Club is so very grateful for the care and support shown to us! The very next day, March 13, we got down to “funny business”, as 20 people came out to play in our monthly cribbage tournament. Some days your hot, and other days you're not! They didn't win a new car, but Claire and Lies VanMarion did take home $26 as winners! Just a smidge behind them, Laura DeVocht and Kathy Robb each won $8. Alma Kelln & Linda Orban  found the cards they needed to cinch 3rd place and each won $6. A mere 6 days later, we switched to hand & foot canasta and had a great afternoon with 20 joining in. Either spring is in the air, or someone let the monkeys out!! What fun we had trying to manipulate the cards in our favour, grabbing the discard pile, or getting a second Joker canasta. We welcome newcomer, Nancy Procyk, to our afternoon of fun. Nancy proved she was “acquainted” with the game as she and partner, Kathy Kish, snagged first place. Hot on their heels and diving for home plate, Lorne Scott and Doug Sweeny had to settle for 2nd best, a mere 160 points off ... a grudge match in the making? Third place goes to Laura DeVocht and Liz Mayer who had decent, middle of the road games. Their score “beats the tar” out of my partner, Eleanor Gares and I. Poor Eleanor and I should never have taken a coffee break, for it was all a down hill mess after that! To each person who answers my last minute, desperate phone calls when “I need 1 more player” .. I thank you! The Heritage Club Annual Meeting will be held April 30, 2018 at 1:30 pm, at our building located at 505 Otterloo St. We truly are Seniors on a Roll, and we thank you for keepin' the ball rollin'!
