To kick off 2017 the Heritage Club hosted their monthly Crib Tournament on January 10. We welcomed two new players to the event and enjoyed playing twenty questions with them while we all got acquainted. Allen Braithwaite and Alfred Kraft had good luck with the cards and took home first place. Jackie Mohr and newcomer, Gale Erickson, had a firm hold on second place while Eleanor Holden and Leonard Helland placed at the bottom of the bucket. On Jan. 16, twenty people sat down to an afternoon of Traditional Canasta. We drew cards to determine what table and partners for the afternoon, and we said howdy to two more new players! Low and behold, Laura DeVocht and Judy Woidyla are thanking their lucky stars they ended up partners, for the ladies ended up in First Place. After 5 games, a mere 360 points difference, Joyce Kattler and Liz Mayer grasped second place. And ta da, finally, Janice Gooding (me) and partner Marge Burgess came in third. Feels so good to be in the winners circle, for I am truly a middle of the road gal! (Future partners be aware!) We added a twist to our Traditional Canasta afternoon – 500 points for a Red 3 Canasta (7 Red Three's) ... Eldeen Boehmer and Darlene Kurtz (newcomer, at last) managed the feat twice! We will play Canasta again Feb. 20! Our guest speaker presentation regarding Living Wills entitled “My Voice” takes place this Saturday morning (Jan. 21) and I'm sure we can squeeze in a couple more people. If you would like to attend, please call Janet (306)695-3674. We are Seniors, we are Progressive, we are Eager to Learn and we have Fun... computer classes for beginners and beyond are just starting. Call Judy (306) 695-2175 if you want to learn e-mail, how to see and talk to your family for free, what is a Dropbox, where did my pictures go, is Facebook safe, and so much more.
